Shamrock Consulting Group receives ‘A’ rating from Security Scorecard
We are proud to announce that Shamrock Consulting Group has been assigned an A rating from Security Scorecard. The rating is highly relevant in demonstrating an organization’s overall commitment to maintaining its security posture, as it is indicative of relative security ranking over time.
The rating serves as recognition for companies that are leading the way in keeping data, infrastructure, and people safe in the wake of a growing spate of attacks from cybercriminals.
How Security Scorecard works and what the ratings mean
Security Scorecard analyzes the security posture of companies using seven years of historical data on both their security posture as well as ten major risk factors. The evaluation criteria are based on ten distinct parameters that include metrics such as application security, patching cadence, endpoint security, and social engineering.
The scores are tabulated and the scorecard assigns ratings from A to F. Historical data has shown that companies with a rating of F versus an A see a ten-fold increase in their likelihood for breach events.
The compelling case for companies to work exclusively with security-conscious vendors
With several high profile supply chain attacks standing out in recent memory, it’s time for companies to clamp down on ‘back doors’ in their extensive supply chain networks and work with vendors with demonstrable commitment to security.
While it’s utopian to ask for a vendor to remain ‘perfect’ or impervious 100% of the time, companies should pay close attention to processes and protocols in place both within the vendor’s architecture, as well as how they conduct business, to mitigate or contain risks.
It’s generally a healthy practice for companies to publish their security protocols and processes, so companies are able to freely evaluate whether they meet internal security standards and expectations. This is simply an act of goodwill and shows commitment towards industry-wide transparency in building strong defensive postures.
Ramp up your own security posture with true cyber security expertise
Having strong internal cyber security actually largely boils down to a strong focus on honing proven security policies and procedures. This could be as basic as having strong and clearly communicated policies on usage of electronic peripherals (often unregulated) or, paying attention to documentation, such as, detailed onboarding and off-boarding processes for human resources and efficient technical controls to implement them.
However, with many businesses still in the reactive phase for cyber security, there is often confusion about how and where to start digging your trenches. Shamrock Consulting Group’s long-term commitment in developing the cyber security footing of the industry as a whole makes it the perfect partner to guide you on your journey for a more secure network and operations. We can help you assess your current security posture through exhaustive penetration testing, red/blue/purple teaming, end-to-end vulnerability management of your extensive network, and, of course, our signature endpoint and cloud security solutions.
